Following Wilcos acclaimed 2023 album Cousin, Wilco revisited unfinished material from these sessions to craft Hot Sun Cool Shroud. Collaborating again with engineering mixer Tom Schick, the band crafted six tracks that expand on the sound of Cousin. According to Jeff Tweedy, they have a summertime-after-dark kind of feeling. It starts off pretty hot, like heat during the day, has some instrumentals on it that are a little agitated and uncomfortable, and ends with a cooling breeze.

By 1966, they adopted the name 'Ashes' and underwent personnel changes, with Cherniss departing and Dryden leaving to join Jefferson Airplane. Brackett and Merrill subsequently formed The Peanut Butter Conspiracy but reformed 'Ashes' in 1968 with new singer Pat Taylor and drummer John Voight. Recorded in 1968 and produced by Jackie Mills, the self-titled "Ashes" is a dreamy, acid folk-rock piece that was initially shelved but released by Vault Records in 1971. Now reissued on blue vinyl with extra recordings, this album is an excellent slice of mid-1960s Southern California lite-rock.

DAYGLOW embodies exactly who Sloan Struble is as an artist and creative and acts as a proper introduction into the bright and colorful Dayglow world. The 10-track debut record was solely written, performed, recorded, produced, and mixed by Struble himself in his Malibu home studio. He opens up and shares, When I was 18 years old, I made my mixtape Fuzzybrain. Allah-Las met while working at Amoeba Music, a key destination for music lovers in Los Angeles. Los Angeles band and art collective julie announces their highly-awaited debut album my anti-aircraft friend. Julie exploded onto the map in 2020 with their single "flutter," which has racked up millions of streams since it's release. The band's genesis, however, goes back to the late 2010s when vocalist and guitarist Keyan Pourzand and drummer Dillon Lee were joined by vocalist and bassist Alexandria Elizabeth. Holding a mutual affinity towards shadowy and adventurous music, the trio played shows with local acts around Orange County in high school before relocating to Los Angeles in 2019 for design school, where they began writing the songs that would make up their impending debut album my anti-aircraft friend. In 2021, julie released their EP pushing daisies, which includes the tracks "skipping tiles" and "april's-bloom" and proceeded their 2022 double single "pg.4 picture of three hedges" / "through your window." my anti-aircraft friend is a bold leap, both showcasing a louder, more assured band, while also attaining a core sound the band had been chasing all along. After all those years tinkering and refining their sound, julie's forthcoming debut album is the work of people who have become steeped in alternative music's history, learned how it works within their own musical sensibilities, and now use it to warp conventions and turn tropes on their head. A war rages inside of a vigilante's head. A Killer's Confession tells it out loud on their fourth full-length offering and MNRK Music Group debut LP, Victim 1. Fronted by vocalist and mastermind Waylon Reavis, the band plunge past the point of no return, channeling the captivating repugnance of true crime set to a soundtrack of melodic hard rock dosed with fits of pummeling metal and insidious industrial. A near-decade journey led to this point. After three seminal albums with Mushroomhead, Waylon retreated from music, only for it to draw him back in 2016. He resurfaced at the helm of A Killer's Confession, delivering three cult favorite albums-Unbroken [2017], The Indifference of Good Men [2019], and Remember [2021]. Along the way, the band tallied tens of millions of streams in addition to collaborating with everyone from Brian "Head" Welch of Korn and Love And Death to Chad Gray of Mudvayne and HELLYEAH. This whirlwind bleeds into a melodically magnetic chorus, on "Martyr" a slick drumbeat seethes beneath a maelstrom of guitar as Waylon proclaims, "I'd rather be a martyr for the innocent.", while "Voices" featuring Aaron Nordstrom of Gemini Syndrome. The maddeningly catchy groove tosses and turns as Waylon and Aaron ignite an arresting back-and-forth. "Aaron plays one part of the killer's brain, and I play the other," Waylon says. "It's a Jekyll and Hyde conversation. I'm the good side, and he's the other side pushing me." In the end, A Killer's Confession tells a story you won't be able to turn away from.

For the past 30 years, Nada Surf has had the same core lineup: Matthew Caws, Daniel Lorca, and Ira Elliot. Moon Mirror, their first for New West Records, was produced by the band and Ian Laughton at Rockfield Studios in Wales. For the recording, Matthew, Daniel, and Ira were joined by their friend and longtime keyboard player Louie Lino.
Moon Mirror is a thrilling and moving leap forward for Nada Surf. The songs on the album are true to the human experience—as meaningful and mysterious and sometimes absurd as it is. There’s love, yes, but also grief, deep loneliness, doubt, wonder, and hope. These are not the songs of a band in their 20s. Hippo Campus' singer Jake Luppen had been listening to the band's work as they rolled around the country, trying to tease out how much work remained. All of it, he soon decided. Obfuscated by the need to sound sophisticated and the overwhelming ambition to make the best Hippo Campus LP ever, a deeper and more profound record that reflected how their lives were changing. But Luppen and all of Hippo Campus decided they didn't actually like what they were making.So they called an audible. They were going to start over. And three months later, the four-member core of Hippo Campus rendezvoused with longtime collaborator Caleb Wright and producer Brad Cook at Sonic Ranch, a playground-like studio complex on the Texas border. They gave themselves 10 days to cut the tracks they liked best, to make something to which they could commit at last. Less than two weeks later, they emerged with what they'd given themselves half a decade to make-Flood, or the best album Hippo Campus has ever made. The sentiments on Flood are raw, real, and unguarded, a testament to Hippo Campus dropping preconceptions of how they had to sound after so many failed attempts to re-record these songs. They wiped the slate clean, starting over without beliefs about what Hippo Campus or this record needed to be. Still, sophistication lurks in subtle key and tempo changes, in the almost innate shifts that a band of longtime best friends can tap after so much time spent helping to shape one another's musical language. Flood doesn't need to tell you it's important or interesting; it simply is, just by virtue of how it's written, built, and rendered, a map of what it's like to feel everything at once. This rebirth is accompanied by a crucial career shift for Hippo Campus, too, as they exit the traditional label system to issue LP4 via Psychic Hotline, a truly independent imprint run by peers and pals. If you're working to let go of expectations, why not jettison them all? There's a bravery to that, and you can hear it's revivifying spirit in every second of LP4.Early into the endlessly propulsive "Paranoid," where stunted acoustic strums undergird an inescapable jangle, Luppen asks an existential question: "Is there something waiting out there for us at the finish line?" For the next three minutes, the band cycles with him through his woes, from the title's overwhelming worry to notions of dislocation and loneliness. (Also, is there any other refrain ever that manages to make the phrase "so god-damned fucking" sound so catchy and natural?) But in the final verse, with his voice breaking through a scrim of distortion, he stumbles upon a new credo: "Wait, I wanna give this life all that I have in me." That is precisely what Hippo Campus have done with Flood after realizing it doesn't take a lifetime-or, well, five years-to do just that.

Formed in London in 1976, The Damned became one of the most groundbreaking and influential bands coming out of the 70s British punk rock scene. Their debut single New Rose (1976) is considered the first punk single to be ever released in the UK.
Throughout their impressive 45+ year career (and counting), The Damned have experimented with various musical styles, incorporating elements of gothic rock, psychedelia, and new wave into their sound.
In October 2020, over 40 years after the founding members parted ways, The Damned announced a series of reunion shows with the original line-up consisting of Dave Vanian (vocals), Brian James (guitar), Captain Sensible (bass), and Rat Scabies (drums). However, due to the pandemic, they were forced to postpone the shows until 2022.
November 3rd, 2022, saw the band performing at the fully packed O2 Apollo in Manchester, UK, delivering an energetic 21-song set drawn from the first two albums, the 1977s Damned Damned Damned and Music for Pleasure, the only albums to feature the four founding members. Keeping the energy high, "Footwork" is a Latin inspired number that is sure to soundtrack many a dance floor from SoHo to Harlem. The synth intro of "Pinky Ring" cleanses your palate for the mood shift when the track drops. Deep bass tones underline the impeccable drumming and Dave effortlessly finds the pocket wasting no notes as the verses and choruses trade off. The record leans into spiritual jazz vibes on "Diamond Encore" with a dark and deep almost "Axelrodish" rhythm track then picks the energy back up with the stomper "Still Standing". "Dave Wants You" has a bop all it's own with an unorthodox drum pattern that Dave anchors with his trumpet hits. The otherworldly arrangement of "Drony Boy" puts the production on a pedestal. The first intro almost serves as an intermission on the album while the second intro sets up the neck snapping track that is about to drop. A menacing guitar signals the builds and the whole thing is juxtaposed by Dave's beautiful trumpet riffs. "Quesodillas" & "Green Door" begin the autumn of the album with their mellow & intimate energy and "Ruby's Rubies", the album's closer is the perfect ending to the journey.

The album was arranged at La Becque in Switzerland and recorded at Total Refreshment Studios in London in 2022, and mixed at Hermitage Studios in London with Margo Broom in 2023. Flow Critical Lucidity comes from a lyric in the single 'Sans Limites' and the album sleeve cover art features Jamie Nares' 'Samurai Walkman' - a helmet befitted with tuning forks. Jamie Nares (born in Great Britain) is a life long friend of Thurston Moore from his New York No Wave days and the two have often collaborated in art and music.

The album follows 2018's Scented Pictures, and finds the Berlin-based artist - previously known as co-founder and co-songwriter of Liars - compelled to write more structured music, with specific parts and intentions that allude to visual imagery and emotional states. No stranger to reinventing his approach towards composition, Rhetoric & Terror feels like we are, perhaps for the first time, opening a doorway into Hemphill's personal life, as well as his disparate sonic influences, wide-ranging journeys through philosophy, and through that, find him reflecting on his own role as an artist. The album features his wife Angelika Kaswalder on vocals throughout, plus multi-instrumentalist Morgan Henderson (a longtime friend since Henderson's time in the post-hardcore band The Blood Brothers) adding woodwinds and additional arrangement on 'Unscripting With The Snake And The Swan.' Kate is an American singer, lyricist, and founding member of the B-52s. She has also collaborated with many other artists including the Ramones, Iggy Pop and R.E.M.

Graham Coxon (blur) + Rose Elinor Dougall return with the follow-up to last years acclaimed eponymous debut (Top 30 UK OCC). Produced by James Ford (Fontaines DC, Arctic Monkeys), the record features both artists on vocal duties in addition to playing a host of instruments including saxophone, keyboards and drums. The WAEVE have established themselves as a songwriting partnership to watch and with City Lights they further push the boundaries of their collaborative creativity, using this album to chronicle the evolution of their relationship and forays into parenthood.City Lights is presented in a beautiful gatefold sleeve designed by Matt de Jong (Blur, Arlo Parks). The title track was released in May and added to the 6Music playlist, as well as garnering coverage on NME, DIY, Stereogum, Under The Radar + more. At this point the band were main support to Elbow across a full UK arena tour, in addition to their own sold-out headline show at Londons Hoxton Hall. This summer sees them play large scale shows with Noel Gallagher, Breeders plus Green Man Festival and their own headline show at Village Underground on 29.10, with a full album tour to follow in the spring.
