More Info:

The world is increasingly run by Sh!ts. Now, on his new album 'Greatest Sh!ts', former Sparks/Jet/Radio Stars bassist/composer Martin Gordon singles out a carefully-curated selection of the current Toppermost of the Sh!t Poppermost for musical scrutiny. Bizarrely, Sparks have returned to the public eye some 50 years after their initial success with 'This Town Ain't Big Enough' and 'Kimono My House'. They, and most of their peers, declare that 'politics and music don't mix'. Gordon, on the other hand, doesn't agree. His latest release uses the public pronouncements of popular despots and prominent sleazebags, whether demented, deluded or frankly bonkers, as the basis for musical compositions. He focuses on the speechifying of popular Sh!ts rather than on the impressive length of their ties, the rumpledness of their blonde hair, the profundity of their bank accounts or the gleam of their bared torsos. Gordon transforms pronouncements by leading Sh!ts (see the CD cover for the full lineup) into musical compositions, recreates Gilbert & Sullivan's 'A Modern Major General' as 'A True Totalitarian' in homage to Vlad the Impaler. In an effort to recapture the pleasure of legible sleeve notes just like in the old days, every CD comes complete with extra printed material, namely extensive sleeve notes (4 sides of A5), a lyric sheet (another 4 sides) and a sticker announcing an exclusive competition to win dinner with a despot of your choice. Brief bio: Martin Gordon was a founder member of Sparks ('Kimono My House'), Jet and Radio Stars. He has worked with artists as varied as the Rolling Stones, the Tiger Lillies and the Ensemble Modern and is a personal friend of James Bond.
