Steve Hall likes to tell quirky stories in song. Coming from a long line of West Virginians who know how to spin a yarn, he combines an absurdist sense of humor honed by the Marx Brothers and Monty Python with a melodic sense garnered from the days when each radio station played many genres. Songs on his debut album 'Twisted' tell stories about subjects as diverse as a lovesick zombie, a moonshiner too fond of his own product and a clueless bowler who runs into a lesbian bowling league. There are also touching songs inspired by his dad ('What About Me') and his daughters ('I Fall in Love Every Day'). Musically the album ranges from horn-fueled dance stomp ('Dress') to '60s pop ('Dublin Girl') to calypso ('Psychotic Girl') to hillbilly ('No Moonshine for Breakfast'). A great band consisting of Steve's longtime musical cohorts, with wonderful lead playing by a former guitarist with the Indianapolis rock band The Why Store, brings the songs to life. In his live performances, Steve has been described as 'a fearless entertainer' with 'a gift for making people laugh and have a good time.'
